![]() ![]() Tomorrow (8) Install benching tools and apps. Then (7) install each game and all the games not in Steam folder. #SLINGPLAYER PLUGIN NOT WORKING DRIVERS#Then (1) install Win 10 saying 'no' to all data mining, (2) disable the updates and (3) set the WiFi connection as "metered" and then (4) hide the drivers that Windows update screws up, (5) install the right drivers from ASUS Z97E site and clear the "!"s in the device manager, configure Windows and (6) finally copy Steam while I am sleeping. And of course, I am asking the SW to verify the disk. Well, after downloading the ISO file TWICE (5.8GB instead of 2.7GB), I am finally burning what I hope is really the 64-bit ISO. It is in the Overclocker's Bible - Book 1, verse 1. Once you have a 100% rock stable PC - only then do you overclock. That is what I do and it works every time for me. Well, the easiest way to tell if your PC is unstable - is to first go to stock clocks. I might try blasting it with compressed air. I'm also wondering if there is a tiny bit of that gunk left in my CPU socket. Perhaps I should try an overnight stability test and see what happens. I haven't run any of them for more than an hour. I have tried the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility, Orthos, SuperPi, the Windows 7 memory test, and LinX. I might also hunt around for some better stability tests. I have tried disabling my CPU cache overclock to see if that helps. I really don't want to go back to stock speed. ![]() Also, sometimes during a reboot my BIOS has trouble detecting my hard drives. What has been happening is that every few days my Slingbox plugin won't load up properly. I use a Slingbox so that I can watch TV on my computer so that I can surf the web while I watch baseball. I will sleep then - then update between midnight and 5AM The only thing that takes a lot of time is copying my Steam folder. Do NOT overclock (anything) until your system is absolutely rock solid and exhibits NO instability. If that is the case, bring your system back to stock speeds. What do you mean, your system is "very slightly unstable every few days"? I don't even think it had the microcode for my current CPU. The old BIOS was the original one that came with the board. I'm hoping the new BIOS will help and I have tried tweaking some of the settings. It's very slightly unstable every few days. I'm trying to root out a bit of very minor instability with my system. I have had a couple of them go bad over the years and then the motherboard is dead. I always find BIOS updates really stressful. I just updated my motherboard BIOS to the latest version.
